Welcome to
Call for fire bbq
Old school nc bbq, cooked on wood and charcoal
We cook NC BBQ the old way, either on lump hardwood charcoal or by burning local hardwood down to coals in a barrel and shoveling into our eastern NC style pit. We do this for two reasons: 1) We want to preserve a dying part of our culture in this area, and 2) It's the best damn BBQ you can eat period. No offense Texas.
Our bread and butter is whole hog bbq, Piedmont/lexington style bbq, ribs, and pit chicken as well as southern sides inspired by our mommas, and grammaws cooking. We keep all our products NC local to the best of our ability. Pigs are sourced from Hickory NC. We occaisionally do other protiens by request but there are other guys doing amazing stuff in that area. Our goal is to try and give you a product that you could have eaten in this state 50, 60, 80, or 150 years ago.
As such we offer the below for major events and grill for hire private events, and can serve as few as 8-10 folks and as many as 1000 servings. Call, email, or follow us on Instagram for upcoming dates or private events.
whole hog bbq
the king of bbq
Just like it says. BBQ the way it has been done for millenia, and for probly at least 350, 400 years in this state. Whole animal, butterflied, and cooked all night over coals. Crispy skin and all. Like the man said:
"Let me make this clear: if I had one bite of barbecue left to eat on this earth, I’d probably go with some North Carolina whole hog."-Anthony Bourdain
Ribs
old school ribs
Baby back or spareribs, cooked over coals. Sauced with our rib sauce. It'll make you weep with shame for the decadent behavior that you are engaged in while consuming them.
pit chicken, and chicken thigh sammiches
the best damn chicken you'll eat
Old school NC pit chicken dark quarters, or boneless thighs, pickle brined then smoked on our pit and served on a bun with pickles and french fried onions.
Classic as you can get, and not to anger a cetain chicken sandwich chain we all know and love, but ours ARE available on Sundays.
what people say
Hey Nate, thank you so much for cooking for us and bringing all the food by/taking care of set up – it was honestly some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had and the group was raving about it!
